The IoP director acts according to the law as the statutory representative of the Institute of Physics. He has the final decision making power. He may delegate this authority, within limitations and the context of rules defined in IoP internal documents and legal regulations, upon the members of the PMB or other project employee through a specific written authority.

Jan Řídký – IoP Director

He graduated in theoretical nuclear physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University. Jan Řídký is professor of applied physics.
Since 1975 he works in the Institute of Physics ASCR, from 2007 as a director. 
At the end of the eighties and in the nineties he worked on regular long-term internships at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva and also in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, near Moscow. In 1997, Jan Řídký participated in the emerging Project Pierre Auger Observatory, and since 2006 he is the coordinator of the operation of the entire fluorescence detector.
