The Institute of Physics – ELI Beamlines has signed and agreement with the world-leading applied technology research institute ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute).
The cooperation has the ambitious goal of bringing the laser-plasma acceleration technology outside the laboratory to be used as an additional tool to defeat the cancer. Expertise of the Radiation Physics and Electron Acceleration group on laser and plasma physics, integrated with ITRI knowledge in biomedical, mechatronics and technology development, will lead to the creation of a strong working group that will study the details of the realization and implementation of such technology in medical environment. Good to see ELI-Beamlines patented technology moving a step further its application to the society. To attract a prestigious foreign partner like ITRI to work on a technology developed in-house at IOP-ELI Beamlines makes us proud.
