The Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) is pleased to announce the opening of the 7th ELI User Call, with proposals accepted until 29 October 2025, 12:00 (noon) CET. Researchers worldwide are invited to submit their proposals for experiments to access ELI’s state-of-the-art instruments and equipment. Proposals will be evaluated by an international peer review panel with an emphasis on scientific excellence. The Call offers access to a wide range of cutting-edge instruments and capabilities at the ELI ALPS (Szeged, Hungary), ELI Beamlines (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic), and ELI Nuclear Physics (Măgurele, Romania) Facilities.

Offer Highlights
- High Field Petawatt (HF PW) laser is available to users for the first time, delivering ultrashort, high-power pulses across three dedicated beamlines for experiments ranging from attosecond pulse generation to electron acceleration and strong-field physics.
- 1 PW E7 experimental area is designed for research combining laser and gamma beams to study nuclear and plasma physics, as well as astrophysical phenomena.
- HHG-MAC station provides coherent VUV/XUV pulses from a high-repetition-rate laser system and enabling investigations into source development.
The complete offer of available equipment and experimental opportunities is available on the ELI User Portal, along with comprehensive guidelines for the submission and evaluation of proposals. Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their concepts with instrument scientists early in the process to ensure alignment with facility capabilities.
Proposal Submission Deadline: 29 October 2025, 12:00 (noon) CET
User Access
Researchers must register in the ELI User Registry to gain access to the User Office System (UOS), which serves as the central platform for submitting and managing proposals, accessing training, and staying informed throughout the process. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) has been introduced for enhanced security. For any questions, please contact the ELI User Office.
Experimental Period
The planned experimental period for the awarded Call 7 proposals is April-October 2026.
Future Opportunities
ELI launches bi-annual User Calls in Spring and Autumn.
The Extreme Light Infrastructure is the world’s most advanced laser-based research infrastructure. The ELI Facilities provide access to a broad range of world-class high-power, high-repetition-rate laser systems and secondary sources. This enables cutting-edge research and new regimes of high-intensity physics in physical, chemical, medical, and materials sciences.
