High school students beware! You can sign up for the Science Challenge even in December 2021.

In light of the current unfavorable epidemic situation, we have decided to postpone the December finals of the Science Challenge, a competition for teams of high school students organized by the laser centres of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences – HiLASE Centre and ELI Beamlines.

During the ongoing online round, teams of high school students are working to create the most effective program to automate laser systems that could find applications in the industry. The top 3 teams will then face a 24-hour challenge directly at the laser centres. That’s where we will add hardware to the programming, so screwdriver, lenses and lasers!

Unfortunately, the originally announced date of the final on 10-11 December 2021 has been postponed due to the current epidemic situation. We will hold the finals as soon as possible in early 2022. We expect that it will take place in February or March 2022. The exact date is to be determined.

High schoolers, we have a little pre-Christmas gift for you! We’ve decided to extend the online round of the competition until 10 January 2022, and at the same time, we are opening the opportunity for more teams to register for the competition. You can sign up until 12/23/2021 via the website www.sciencechallenge.cz.
